Poppy Making at Fed Square …

…. Excited here … the dates for poppy making (crocheting, knitting and stitching – whichever is your preference) have been set : the second Monday of each month from 12.00 midday until 2.00 p.m. until November at least to make a minimum of 500 poppies for our initial display at Fed Square.

So the first workshop will be on 8 July – mark that date in your diary now!!!

I am looking forward to seeing all you avid crafters joining me.  In the meantime, if you can’t wait and would like to start making … you can find poppy easy knitted and crocheted poppy patterns here.

Don’t forget to start sending your completed poppies to me.  I can’t wait to see how everyone is going.

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.

Hi Lynn, I have enlisted a couple of girls at work. I don’t think you should have any trouble getting your 500. Cheers Cynthia

      Thanks Cynthia.
I also don’t think we will have any problems making our 500 … and I truly think the 5000 although it seems like a lot won’t be a big stretch either.
      The project has mass appeal.
      It will be GREAT!!!!!
