Fed Square Poppy Playtime

Yesterday was an amazing success at Fed Square … two hours of poppy making … not everyone’s cup of tea but for the women who were there … a couple of hours of craft and meeting new people.  It was lovely to see some people returning from last month … with poppies in hand … and a big haul of poppies accompanied the group …

Plus I believe there was also poppy making happening in Tasmania … lovely synergies … and lovely stories that come out of the contributors.  Our little poppy venture is growing daily.  And to cap off a really great afternoon … there were more poppies from Wanda McPherson in my letterbox when I returned home.  So thank you all.

These little needle felted beauties were made by Jennifer Luscombe … a really gorgeous changeup from knitted and crocheted poppies which has inspired me to get out my needle felting machine soon.

The next Poppy Playtime in Fed Square is scheduled for Monday 9 September from 12.00 midday to 2.00 p.m.  Mark it in your diary now.

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.
