A Massive Poppy Haul

Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much … this week so far … a massive haul of 230 poppies …. my little Pub Knit & Stitch group have excelled themselves with a haul of 179 in total last night.  Contributions came from Anette McRae, Tammy Shepherd, Marian Mason, Pennie Cornwell, Debbie Lewis, Jan Berry,  Julie Simpson and Tase Lucas, as well as Jen Sheilds of Kerang Vic, Phillipa Vallard of Woodenbong NSW, Jennifer Mason of The Basin, Vic, some beautiful fabric contributions from Kay Wagland of West Launceston Tas, Christine Blades of Kings Meadows Tas, Tania Goninon of Launceston Tas, Joy Bracken of Kings Meadows Tas, Diane Oliver of Riverside, Tas, Kaye Perkins of Hawthorn Vic, Fay Snell-Clements and Robyn Pidgeon of Logan City Qld.  I will post your tributes later in the week but just had to show the images.  Apart from the knitted and crocheted poppies, there are also some lovely fabric contributions in this bunch plus the cutest little cross stitch embroidery.  You are all so talented!

I have lost count of the total so far but suffice to say that my pool table is now groaning under the weight of such an amazing tribute.

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.
