It’s Raining Poppies ….

It’s like Christmas Day every time I go to the post office … with another 150 poppies this week … we have now taken our total to 2679 … and your generosity continues to astound.

It’s only a few weeks now until we have the launch/display at Fed Square in Melbourne and we are enjoying planning how we are going to show off your wonderful handiwork.  So very excited here …

We have some people coming on board with collection points now … I will post details over the next few days.  If you would like to offer to be a collection point and/or run some local workshops we are happy for you to do that.  We have impromptu poppy making playdates popping up all over the place.  Plus on Monday from 12.00 til 2.00 p.m. we have our monthly Poppy Playdate at Fed Square.  Look forward to seeing you there if you can make it. If you are planning a Poppy Playdate … feel free to add the event on the facebook page if you would like to share.

So muchos grazias this week to Carole Martinez of Mirriwinni Qld,  Leanne Whitburn of Kangaroo Flat Vic and Elisha Cardamone of Thurgoona NSW (mother and daughter), Barbara McEwan of Moura Qld, Faye Snell-Clements of Healesville Vic, Janita O’Neill of Upper Mt Gravatt Qld and Sandra Gant of Pacific Pines Qld for this week’s fabulous haul.

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.
