It’s amazing how you have all rallied to the cause.  And I think we are going to make the BIGGEST splash on the forecourt in Fed Square in 2015 for our veterans and their families.  So let’s not stop … or even slow down.  You know we have revised the number to 25,000 for 2015 … I would have thought when we started out that 25,000 was  just a dream … but now I have seen first hand what a bunch of motivated crafters can do when they put their minds to something.  So let’s make it 25,000.

Fresh from our Fed Square launch success … we have delusions of grandeur, and next year we are hoping there will be more workshops and craft groups, community groups, RSLs, CWAs, and Legacy groups.  we are also hoping that if there isn’t a group in your area that you might contact your local library and start up your own community group and use Poppy making as an excuse to get out and play with yarn and meet new people and make new friends.  I will be organising more workshops around Melbourne and as we ramp up … more and more people will come on board … If you want to start your own group … publicise it on the facebook group and I will publicise it on the blog.  That way even more people will here about us.

And just a heads up … April 25 in Fed Square from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. we will be in Fed Square with hopefully hundreds of our new best poppy friends making poppies.  I am hoping to see you there … red yarn and crochet hooks or knitting needles in hand.  We want to be seen!!!!

This is just the beginning!!!!

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.
