Does this mean we are famous?

Just slipped over the have a look at the Victorian Government’s Anzac Centenary Page … I sent some images in November … and look what I found … one of the photographs from our November launch.  Promotion from this organisation and the many other groups and organisations that are supporting us … will help us reach our 25,000.  If you can help with promotion through your organisation … or can drum up a local support through your local neighbourhood house, library or other community group … we encourage you to go for it.  This is the year!!!! Likewise if you would like to start a Poppy group in your area with likeminded souls … we would love to hear from you.  Join us on facebook – search for 5000 poppies and you will find us there.

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.

  1. Having just been sent the link to this project today, Wodonga Library are planning a project to connect in with this, creating our own “field of poppies” for Remembrance Day this year before sending those poppies in to form part of the greater project at Fed Square next year.

      Wonderful news!
We are always thrilled to have libraries on board. They are such a hub of community activity and are able to reach out to a much broader audience than we could otherwise reach.
It is a fabulous project and engages with all levels of community.
The ultimate display is April 2015 so all poppies to be submitted by Mid March 2015 (I expect there will be stragglers) … just so we know what we have to work with.
If you like I can email you a poster to print out to publicise the project.
Feel free to call me if you would like to talk on 0412150415.
You can join our group on facebook just search 5000 poppies to hook up with us or follow us on the blog.
And please, don’t forget to send photos of your workshops and collection for us to blog about … it’s great news for our followers to see the continued and growing interest in the project.
      Regards,
      Lynn Berry
