Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all our wonderful poppy making friends.  Marg and I wish you wonderful things for 2014 … love, laughter, quality time with family and friends, and a good rain for our friends in the country who need it.  We hope that 2014 brings you great joy.5KP_Web_Banner_1

For us, 2014 brings a new energy.  We are very excited about what the year has in store for us and I am fairly sure we can hazard a guess that poppies will be involved. Some exciting plans are afoot … and we will have more news about that in the coming weeks.

For Melbourne based friends … our poppy year starts next Monday at Fed Square from 12.00 midday until 2.00 p.m. for our first Poppy Playtime of the year.  Followed closely by another Poppy Playtime at Wondoflex Yarn Craft Centre, 1353 Malvern Road, Malvern 3144 on Saturday 18 January from 2.00 p.m. until 4.00 p.m.  No need to book for either of these sessions, just come along with your hook, needles and yarn.  Patterns and some yarn will also be available at the workshops.

I know that many people have been making poppies with gay abandon over the break … and I still have some pre Christmas admin to catch up on over the next week.

Enjoy your poppy making year.

Lynn

About 5000 Poppies

The 5000 Poppies Project is a community tribute of respect and remembrance for our servicemen and women, their families and their communities. Created in 2013 by sisters in law Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight in honour of their fathers service in WWII, the project has been closely aligned with the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018, and has consisted of a number of small and large scale installations made from handcrafted poppies from many thousands of contributors from all over the world.
